FAQ
Are there make up classes for missed classes?
Unfortuanelty, at this time we do not do rescheduling for missed classes. Dates of the classes are given up front and upon checkout for future planning. All classes are non-refundable due to reserved instructional time, advance preparation, and staffing commitments.
Am I able to stay for class?
At this time, we do ask that parents drop off / pick up their child, unless it is a parent + me workshop. This is for liability reasons in compliance with charter schools.
Drop off / Pick Up Q’s
We open our door 5 minutes prior to start class time so students can get checked in and washed hands prior to start time.
All classes are drop-off and pick-up and are held in a licensed home-based teaching kitchen with small groups.
Every class we will have a review of what your child will be learning on the board. They will be checked in and off to wash hands and put their apron on and get ready for class.
We love our neighbors! Please be respectful while driving as this is a residential area with friendly neighbors and tons of kids walking or biking to/from home all day. If you are running late— please do not speed. Just call/text me and we will accommodate.
We ask that you do your best in trying to find parking in front of our home and not using other neighbors parking, however we get things fill up during pick up /drop off so we just ask you are respectful to our neighbors.
What if my child has allergies?
Please let us know if your child has allergies especially nut allergies or any significant allergies that may cause an emergency flare up. (bee stings, bug bites, nuts etc) We will do our best to accommodate and be sure your child is safe.
Can I pay for classes monthly?
Yes! We are now offering a monthly payment plan option for your convenience. Please note that monthly payments do not mean month to month enrollment. By selecting the monthly payment option, you are committing to the full 12-class semester ($660 total). Your payment is simply divided into three monthly payments of $220.
The monthly payment option allows you to receive the discounted semester rate of $55 per class rather than paying the $60 drop-in rate. By enrolling with monthly payments, you agree to complete the full semester commitment, even if you later decide you no longer wish to attend.
Monthly payments = payment convenience, not a month-to-month commitment.
Why can't I cancel my enrollment after one month?
The $660 semester price is a discounted rate based on a full-semester commitment. By choosing the monthly payment option, you are agreeing to the full 12-class semester at the discounted rate of $55 per class. If you prefer not to commit to the full semester, you are welcome to register for individual drop-in classes at the $60 per-class rate, subject to availability.
Choosing monthly payments means committing to the full semester. There are no mid-semester cancellations, refunds, or adjustments, as you’re committing a seat for 12 weeks.
What if my child is not quite the recommended age or grade?
Every child learns at their own pace, and we believe parents know their children best. If you feel your child is ready for a class, you are welcome to register them. This also applies to siblings in different grade levels who would like to attend at the same time. We tailor our classes to each student's needs. If we feel a different placement would be a better fit, we'll reach out to you directly.
What if we want to join a class that is already in session?
At this time you’re able to purchase drop in classes, or email us to join the semester!
What if my child is sick?
If your child is sick please do your best to keep them home until they are feeling better. We get kids get bugs however we ask that any dripping, runny nose, or consistent sneezing stay home out of respect to other families. Please reach out if you have a doctor’s note.
Do you accept charter funds?
Yes! We are more than happy to be an approved vendor for your child’s charter school. At this time we are an approved vendor for Cabrillo Point Academy, Suncoast Prep, Peak Prep, Taylion and iLead. If you do not see your school listed, please submit a request through your educational facilitator.
How do drop-in classes work?
Drop-in classes require at least one week’s notice and are subject to availability. Please be sure to select you write in your desired date at checkout. A spot is not guaranteed without confirmation.
Can I send charter school funds without registering first?
No. A student’s spot is only reserved once an order is placed directly with us. Please do not submit charter school funds without completing registration and receiving confirmation, as we may not have space available.
Does my student get to bring home what they make?
Absolutely! Almost every class takes home their portion of their creation as well as hand outs on occasions. If we are short on time, I do text and email the families of the students to come pick up their item at a later time. We encourage the kids to wait until pick up to eat their creation, however, as we know, children don’t always practice their patience.
Why does my child only come home with a small portion?
This is a children’s cooking class, and each child goes home with their individual portion only. Portion size reflects:
One child’s work
The instructional time during class
Hands-on learning over quantity
Additional portions are not provided.
What are the safety protocols?
I am CPR/AED/First Aid Certified. I am also LiveScan & background checked for your child’s safety. Although all classes are not open fire classes, we have fire extinguishers present always. However, since we are cooking burns/cuts are always possible. Please read our Policies & Procedures page for our full safety protocols.
What if my child is not potty trained?
Please be sure to apply a fresh diaper prior to drop off. Toddler classes are 1 hour only and should be okay with no diaper changes needed. If a diaper change is needed we will call / text guardians for procedures. Rarely does this happen.
What does my student need to bring?
We ask that your student be dropped off with a water bottle or hydro and a light snack(optional). Most of our classes get a wiggle break in between their lessons, where kids socialize and eat their snack before we regroup to end our lesson for the day.
What if I wanted to sign my child up for private lessons on a different day?
We are able to accommodate private in-person & online lessons for your child. Please email me here and we can come to a date/time that works best.
Are the kids allowed to play while I pick them up?
Please know that I leave a 10 minute pick up window after class as I have back to back classes running and have to prep for. Each minute after 10 minutes will be 1$ per minute charge. Please text / call me if there is an emergency or if you know you will be running late.
Why are parents not allowed to stay?
For the safety of all children, we allow only those who have been background checked through LiveScan to stay and help. In addition, we find that little ones tend to listen and follow directions clearly without the presence of their parent. As they are given a sense of independence and trust, but are being guided by the teacher.
Do you share the recipes you make?
At this time, I pass out recipes on occasion, or post recipes on my Instagram, Substack, or Tik Tok so you all can make it at home!
Are you currently a vendor with Blue Ridge Academy?
At this time, School of Caroline will not be continuing our partnership with Blue Ridge Academy due to their updated policy regarding services provided in a vendor's home residence. We are disappointed that we can no longer serve Blue Ridge families. For questions regarding this policy, please contact Blue Ridge Academy directly. Families may also explore enrollment through one of the charter schools we currently partner with.
Which charter schools are you a vendor with?
School of Caroline is currently an approved vendor with:
iLEAD
Peak Prep
Suncoast Prep
Taylion
Cabrillo Point Academy
Don't see your charter school listed? We'd love to get connected! Reach out to your charter school or Educational Facilitator to begin the vendor onboarding process. We’re always happy to explore opportunities to serve more families.
Can I receive a refund if I decide not to continue classes?
All sales are final and non-refundable. When you enroll, your child's spot is reserved exclusively for them, and we commit time, staffing, supplies, and curriculum planning based on enrollment. Because we cannot guarantee that a spot can be filled after registration, we do not offer refunds for cancellations, missed classes, no-shows, or decisions to discontinue enrollment. By registering, upon checkout, you agree to these terms.
How does Mommy & Me work?
Each Mommy & Me duo completes one recipe together and receives one set of instructions.
A child add-on participates alongside the adult
Add-ons do not receive a separate recipe
Everyone goes home with their portion of the shared recipe
